JOB TITLE: Business Issuance Technician DEPARTMENT: Commercial Lines REPORTS TO: Department Manager CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, Hourly JOB PURPOSE: Processing and quality checking renewals and new business in a timely and accurate fashion.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:
1. Timely and accurate processing of renewals and new business by gaining and maintaining knowledge of assigned carrier coverages, underwriting guidelines, and processing within published tandards; understanding and following procedures and standards established internally and by carriers; and knowledge of all XD5 processes and tools.
2. Maximizes Growth and Profitability by Accurately input new business submissions and change requests into company specific systems; verifying accuracy of carrier issued business; transforming all perceived premium and processing barriers into opportunities submissions; rating as needed.
3. Promote teamwork and efficiencies within the unit by showing support and empathy to teammates and customers, questioning why and how we handle our business and looking for how what we do adds value to the customer, voluntarily fill in for teammates in their absence to maintain a steady flow and superior service for the customer. Openly communicate with the supervisor to resolve personal and business issues or concerns.
Additional Responsibilities: Assists with related special projects, as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School degree or equivalent experience, Completion of a minimum of IIA Introduction to Insurance course.
EXPERIENCE: 1 to 2 years’ experience with an insurance company or agency or 2-3 years’ experience in a data entry environment.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABLITIES:
Familiarity with insurance terms and forms.
Ability to work independently, prioritize work and make sound business decisions.
Awareness of risk assessment and risk management techniques.
Professionally handles confidential information.
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
Type 55 wpm, working knowledge of standard computer software programs.
Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups. Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources.
Ability to work with others as a team member.
Working knowledge of standard computer software programs.
Position may require overtime.

Mental requirements: Ability to analyze data, use problem solving and decision making skills, ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail for extended periods of time.
Physical requirements: Sit for long periods of time at computer; hearing/listening; clear speech; close vision; data entry on computer. May be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment: Works indoors in temperature controlled environment. There is infrequent exposure to some fumes from printing cartridges and photocopy chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of an office setting. Employee is to have scheduled breaks away from physical requirements of workstation and general office noise.
Safety: Required to observe all office safety rules and regulations. Including, but not limited to: Required to use all ergonomic safety guards provided for workstations. Aisles and work areas around incumbent to remain clean and free of trip hazards. All file drawers to be kept closed when unattended. All electrical equipment must be properly grounded.
